5 WEEKS

PROJECT DURATION

Designing a highly engaging digital platform for Conferences.

78

ANGLES EXPLORED

Various angles were explored, sketched multiple variations to zero down on the final version.

17

DESIGNS DELIVERED

In the end 17 High fidelity visuals were delivered to the client along with the spec documents.

THE CHALLENGE

With 1000s attending the conference and 100000s talking about the conferences, can we build a platform where users can have a live conference experience along with community conversations

“The SiliconAngle Media has tons of content and hundreds of thousands users visiting its media channels. Our sites have the best stories and research revolving around the enterprise technology. In spite of number of users visiting our sites we are unable to convert them as returning users.”

RESEARCH AND PLANNING

This phase is all about understanding what you have been asked to do and working out the best possible combination of activities that will guide you to the desired outcome. It was a short project with very tight deadlines. The challenge in these kind of projects is to quickly ideate and iterate. Having Plan B, C & D is always good. In a 5 week project with tight deadlines it is always good to have plan B or C as it is very difficult to respond to situations when things do not work as per initial plan. Having a secondary option keeps you back on track without much delays and panic. These are the backup plans which come into play when the tools crash or some mishap happens with any of your team members.

SECONDARY RESEARCH

This phase is all about collecting the information which is already exists. Advantage of this is the process is quick and information already exists and it is low cost affair. The goal in this phase is to look out for solutions of similar problems in various fields. This leads the team in creation of Inspiration Boards. Basing on these boards the team has brainstorming sessions.

SKETCHES TO WIREFRAME DESIGN

Action starts with the rough sketches and low-fidelity mockups which evolve as outcomes of brain storming sessions. Then gradually after series of discussions the sketches shape into more detailed wireframes and then high-fidelity visual wireframes. The goal being content first it was very important for us to design in a manner that is not overwhelming to the user. The content is needed to be structured to achieve the goals of the site.
On the other end choosing typography, textures and right color palette for this website was a task that required sensitivity. As the site was rich with content which has videos and images it was very important to select the right color palette. The intention was to make it look positive, clean and approachable.

WIREFRAME TO VISUAL DESIGN

Choosing typography, textures and right color palette for this website was a task that required sensitivity. The site is content heavy. Content means videos, Images, Text. As the content has lot of visual elements it was a challenge to the visual team to select the apt theme which does not dominate the content but inturn complement them. The visual theme was to make it look positive, clean and approachable.

IMPACT

5 weeks of intense design work finally paid off. Currently their engineering team is working on the designs we delivered. As the site goes live thousands of users will have a platform to experience the event live and also engage with the community.
